Accounting Manager

At Sprocket, we seek a dynamic Accounting Manager who blends financial expertise with startup adaptability. You'll manage core accounting tasks while building scalable systems for our future growth. As we expand, you'll play a key role in developing our accounting and finance team. Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Manager will be a key part of Sprocket’s Finance organization and will help to build and scale the accounting function as Sprocket continues to grow. The Accounting Manager will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting operations, including G/L management, journal entries, revenue, treasury, billing, monthly close, account reconciliations, financial statements, compliance and other reporting, and ad hoc projects as needed.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Oversee and execute accounting processes, including month-end close, completing monthly reconciliations, & journal entries.
  • Complete internal financial reporting, including monthly financial statements, cash reporting, revenue
  • Heavy assistance alongside the CFO with monthly and annual budgeting/forecasting
  • Track department budgets and communicate regularly with other department management to discuss results and risks/opportunities to the budget
  • Accountable for monthly sales commissions calculations
  • Complete monthly billing to customers & sending of agreements
  • Assist with annual audits, tax preparation, and other compliance reporting
  • Own sales tax tracking and reporting process for multiple states
  • Assist with equity accounting investor reporting
  • Optimize accounting software and systems used to automate accounting and reporting processes
  • Assist with due diligence reporting in the event of a funding event
  • Proactively identify issues and opportunities for improvement within the close process and implement process enhancements.
  • Ad hoc projects & analysis
  • Build out scalable processes & systems as we grow
What Success Looks Like:
  • Accurate and timely financial statements are provided
  • Sprocket stakeholders and leaders are provided visibility
  • Scalable financial systems and processes are implemented and optimized
  • Key financial metrics and KPIs are tracked and reported consistently
  • Compliance with accounting standards and regulations is maintained
What We're Looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or finance
  • 7+ years of progressive experience;
  • SAAS, public accounting, and payment processing platforms experience a plus
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks & additional ERP’s such as NetSuite
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience reconciling high-volume transactional data
  • Strong prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience implementing ERP systems a plus
  • Self-starter who can creatively solve problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with ability to teach and train others
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
